4th of July…. Postmortem.

Postmortem as in, it’s behind us.  No one died.  No skin was burned, and no ear drums ruptured.  All fingers accounted for.  Except for the critters and the 2 year old, it was a complete success.  The animals are not fans of anything loud and flashing, and apparently the 2 year old isn’t either.  She was OK with smoke bombs though.  As long as her big cousin (superhero in her eyes) is keeping her safe.

A totally 80’s Zumba experience!

What a blast.  I am going to try to stay away from all of the 80’s vernacular that I could throw in here.  Studio Z Stanwood threw a killer (oops) 80’s themed party/Zumba event this last Friday night and I was asked to come in and shoot it for them!  Loved it!  Any time folks are getting together to have some fun, I’m all in.  The event was coordinated by Greg over at LinkedIQ, and the DJ was none other than SeattleDJ Jeremy Williams.  I could not stay away from the urge to color process the images for a more authentic 80’s look.  Here are some of my favorite shots from the night.  Let me know what you think!

This next photograph is one of my favorites shots of the night.  Love the light, energy and color!

Do you remember video cassettes?  Remember trying to wind the rental back in so you didn’t get charged for it!?!?

Fun game, if you can hold onto the pen!

And one last detail shot- totally forgot how rad leg warmers look!

Hit the comments and let me know what photograph you like best!

Summer is finally here…

Well it’s about freezin time.  This has been one of the wettest springs I can ever remember.  Cool too.  We had a wonderful break a few weeks ago and it happened to coincide with a post school year beach party put on my local wedding photographer Kelly Bowie.  (http://kcbphotography.com/blog/)  I think there is something to be said about people who spend lots of time at parties (weddings).  They know how to throw a good party, and not break a sweat doing it.  Good food, good times and SUN!

BAM!  There was SUN!

The water fight got pretty heated.  The bucket was not intended to be included in the toss.  There was a moment of panic

until one of the kind opponents returned the weapon.

Various defensive maneuvers were used…

Eventually all the “kids” were in on the action!

One last shot of that wonderful sun!

Mr. Sol stayed around for the next day or two (wedding from the following day to hit the blog later in the week, oh yes it was beautiful!) and has since headed elsewhere…

Beg your Pardon?

Just a quick note to say “Happy Thanksgiving!” I didn’t have much time this year, but I thought of this shot from last year and it still makes me chuckle, and the whole pardon thing. You’re looking at Duke, and he’s happily looking forward to 2010…

Birthday Party!

Another birthday party!  I shot this quite a while ago, and then lost track of the images to upload for my blog untill I was sorting some of the wedding photos from the last wedding I shot.  Here are a few quick grabs,

The lady of honor!  What a gem!

Not a big fan of the buffet!

I think everyone had a good time!

Just cause she’ll kill me, here is the gal who organized the party.  (not the little one)

Thanks for the chance to share this wonderful day with all of you!

Happy coordinated birthday!

I wish I could dress like this.  Not like a girl, but coordinated, sharp, and always looking “ready to go”.  We were honored to be invited to a *princess* party at a close friend’s house the other night.  It was all family, and us.  Great welcoming people with wonderful hospitality, even if we were late (I prefer my pizza cold!).  Here are a few frames from the evening.  I didn’t catch every moment, just a few as I was enjoying the wonderful company.

The Birthday Girl!

Here’s Mom & Auntie

Here’s dad, King of his castle!, alternate title “I have two girls and weddings cost how much?”

Thanks for letting me post the shots!
