Aasen family

Filed under: Family, Kids — photobby @ 11:57 am

Here are a few shots from this great family that came over the other day and let me shoot them!  It was a lot of fun to get to know them a little better and try shooting in our woods!  This was the first time I was able to arm twist talk someone into letting me shoot them back in the gloomy, buggy woods. This was also the first time I have used something other than the sun do the heavy lifting as far as lighting goes. Just goes to show that I still have a lot to learn about off camera flash lighting. I like the light level I was able to get out of the Speedlights but will want to have another go with some diffusers (shoot through umbrellas on order!) for a softer light… Especially as the rest of the ambient is such wonderful soft filtered light.

The other cool thing about this shoot is that the mom is a fellow(?) photographer (with tons’ of experience).  It was great to get feedback from the subjects (one of which has lots of experience posing people) as I was working.  A little intimidating for someone who prefers shooting in more of a “fly on the wall” mode.  Her web site is here and I would highly recommend her as she has shot my daughter and nephews and did a great job herding cats with the kids

So here are the shots, just tweaked a little on the laptop’s high quality monitor for exposure and white balance.

And here’s one last one for now…  The little guy loved the goats and chickens
