I love working with artists…

I do.  It’s so fun to work with other creative folk.  I think sometimes it feels like we are all in headed in our own direction, and that’s part of the fun.  Maybe it’s who I am but I seem pulled toward creative folks.  Especially musicians.  And if you know me that’s kind of funny.  I don’t play any instrument (ok, I can rock a mouth harp, but I don’t know if that counts), and the bucket I used to carry a tune in sprung a leak.  But I married a singer.  Whoo-baby did I marry a singer!!  She wooed me with her voice back in high school (I don’t think she realized what she was doing at the time) and I have enjoyed an on going personal concert since.  But that’s a story for a different day…

What am I most excited about now?  This.  I should probably introduce them, cause there is an off chance someone out there besides my Mom, her sister and my Mother in law will read this.  Brent Johnson is the music pastor at our church.  He and his wife have been singing together since high school (sound familiar?) They both went to Lake Washington High School (my HS rival) but they are pardoned as my wife attended LW as well…  Small world huh?

He and his wife have just finished a praise and worship CD called “Presence” (release sometime mid February I think).  You can find out more about them here www.brentandceleste.com.  I will update the post with the album site once it’s up, so check back!!  My part started as a casual “would you take some pictures for us for our CD?” a few months ago.  “Sure”.

I had a lot of fun at the photo shoot (I’d go into the killer space they secured for the shoot, but I’ve already blown past my ‘talkin quota’ for today).  Probably too much fun.  To get a frame like the one below, I had to burn 5 or 6, cause SOMEONE couldn’t keep her their giggles under control.  Thy picked my favorite shot of the session and I worked up a comp for the CD cover.  Cami Blue (super talented graphic designer) did some typesettingtype magic for all the really important stuff and off it went to get pressed!  Cami is kind of like me (lots of plates in the air) and if you want to see what she’s been up to check out her blog here: http://alittlegraceandmercy.blogspot.com/

Here is another shot I liked, and stay tuned.  More info to come right here on this channel about the CD release party/service, as well as some more photos!  Thanks again Brent & Celeste for bringing me into this.  I truly have had a great time working with you both!

The Good Doctor.

We got a little pre-view of a birth center that’s slated to open up later this month.  How did we swing that?  Well the “Good Doctor” was our midwife for our second little bundle of joy!  We opted to have a birth center birth a year ago in April with our youngest and hope that next time we don’t have to drive all the way up to Bellingham.  They have a wonderful birth center there, but you can hear Canada from up there (nothing aginst the Canadians).

The new birth center is going to be really nice, two BIG birth suites with tubs, normal beds and plenty of seating for the folks who really should be there.  The best part for me?  They painted the ceilings WHITE!!  I love natural light, really and truly, but as I am hoping to be shooting a few brand new little one’s up there, I am looking forward to the options a big ol chunk of white ceiling will give me at o’dark thirty.  Once their site is live I’ll put a link up.  She was telling us about some of the interior 360 views they have put together for it and I am looking forward to it!

So here she is, Dr. Antonich, I don’t think I’ll ever forget her saying “well then you better get going” when I told her my wife’s contractons were about 8 min apart at 4 in the morning…

She was kind enough to let me sit her next to one of their lovey big soft windows when we were there.

Hopefully a few of my prints and canvases will grace their walls over the course of the few weeks.  We got some sad news the other day that is going to be tying up some of her time, we are hoping for the best for her and her family…

Edit:  The site for the birth center is live!  Check it out here:http://www.mountvernonbirthcenter.net/index.html They have a grand opening later this month,

come and visit and you’ll understand why so many people are opting for a more natural birth!

We were framed!

I am blessed with a patient wife. A very patient wife. She “took a shine” to this frame just before her last birthday, and her folks bought it for her. It showed up, very nicely packaged, and we laid it out and started talking about some of the photos we wanted in it, and where it would hang. Her birthday is in July. Since then, the photos have changed, and the hanging location has as well. I’m not complaining, with the new flooring, and a new living room layout, there will be more wall space! Yea!
So here are a few shots, Red Envelope is where we got the frame(s), and there is a close up of it laid out on the coffee table when we unpacked it. The last shot is from last night, just after putting the last 4 photos in.

Volkswagen. On hold.

Filed under: Projects — photobby @ 4:41 pm

I keep starting these little projects that never seem to grow to more than a dozen images.  We have some good friends with children about the same age as ours.  We are at each others houses all the time.  Our friends have a little collection of Volkswagen toy cars.  The are very bright and I always think happy.  (even if they get in a fight like these two did)  It was always neat to see where the kids had left them last.  Often they were put away before I could grab a shot, but over the course of a year I managed to snag several shots of the cars in various locations and arrangements.  Kids can be kind of like a randomizer…  There are fun abstracts everywhere.

So back to the little project thing.  Here is one of my favorite shots from the series.  Apparently they are now put away (airplanes in the “wings”?) so the series is at an end.  I have a few others that I have either started or want to.  It’s that time thing.  This is mostly strait out of the camera, not much in the way of post prod.

I hope to post another fav. from this set at a later date…
